I know I rarely post on my blog. I'm sorry, but I just don't think I'm cut out to be a blogger. What is my problem? I'm not sure.
All I want to do with this post is ask a question I've been thinking about and get your opinions. As I am trying to produce the best music of my life right now, I've been thinking about what makes some music great(and why mine isn't!). I want to make music that means something to people.
So my question is: "What is it about your favorite music that makes it meaningful to you?"

The Suns Got Burned!

So it turns out one of the refs working the Suns-Spurs series this May - one of the most controversial in recent history - was betting on games over the past 2 seasons, including some that he was working. This is obviously illegal and the sucker deserves to get in a lot of trouble. But somehow, this makes me feel better about the series and not worse. The Suns gave the Spurs all the series they could handle and then some, and even though they lost, the combination of the ref's criminalism, Bowen's dirty playing, Duncan's and Ginobli's acting, and of course Horry's hooliganism, the Suns came out looking like the tragic heros to me. Sometimes, the good guys get a raw deal, but they are still the good guys. And I think it will make the story that much sweeter when they rise up and beat the Spurs next year in the conference finals, then go on to win it all. Here's to Stevie Boy, Amare, Shawn, Boris, Leandro and Raja. We love you guys.

Ronald Jenkees

I know I'm not good at posting original content, but I just found this dude and I wanted to share it with you. Ronald Jenkees is a real guy and he post videos on youtube about music and other things. He actually is a really good musician, he just happens to be a little "different," as he himself attests. Anyway, he is funny, and I love people like this who are so comfortable with who they are and are able to genuinely enjoy life and its goodness. Look him up on youtube if you get the time. Enjoy.

Rocky Balboa? Oh my!

I hope not to offend anyone in the family, but after just spending 104 minutes of my life in front of the film "Rocky Balboa," I need to vent my feelings. That was one of the stupidest, most poorly acted, ill conceived and overall terrible movies I've ever seen. I know that sounds harsh, but I literally could not believe what I was watching. When I heard about that movie, I had grave doubts, but I read some good reviews and I figured, "maybe old Sly Stallone threw a few interesting plot twists and made an interesting story about an old boxer." He didn't. In fact, he made the most predictable, shallow and sorry film he possibly could have. I don't know what else to say. I realize I'm a little heated up over this, but I honestly cannot believe that movie was made and actually accepted as anything but the total joke it is. It stunk and that is all there is to it. If anyone reading this can think of any redeeming quality about Rocky Balboa, please post a comment and let me know.

Hey Everybody, guess what? It is my birthday tomorrow and today I had a really cool party! I wore a cool balloon hat at the beginning.
My Mom made a really super awesome pumpkin cake for me and my friends. It tasted really good (very choco-licious). My Mom is the BOMB!
I got a singing bunny from Grandma Margaret and a CD with baby music, a toy car and this totally sweet tricycle from my parents. It's a totally tricked out hawg and I look good on it.
Cake was good, though my parents were too cruel to let me dig into it and devour it like a wild animal. They are just a couple of old fogeys, but I still love them.

So, I'm one year old. Congratulate me.

Sweet San Diego Livin'

Here are some photos from Angie, Cal and my trip to sunny southern California last weekend. The photos loaded in reverse chronological order, so above you see me and Cal south of the border on avenue Revolucion, or whatever. We bought a mini guitar and some puppets and we're glad we went, though we don't plan on going back anytime real soon.
Here we are in front of the gorgeous San Diego temple. Of all the temples I've seen in person, this one had the most "wow" factor by far. Absolutely spectacular building, setting and very peaceful on the grounds. We can't wait to go through it someday.
Here is the happy little camping family. Cal is very dirty from crawling around in dirt. It was our first offical camping trip as a fam and everything went great. We were comfortable, had a great fire, a great dutch oven dessert and a hearty breakfast. The campground itself was not spectacular, but it was convienent and not too bad.
This is on Imperial beach. The waves were pretty darn huge and there was a ton of surfers. I got rocked pretty hard by a couple of the waves. Cal had fun, but was very nervous around the water.
This is Angie and Cal in front of the Hotel de Coronado, which is like 120 years old and a real historical land mark. We walked through it and it was very cool.

Overall, it was a lovely little jaunt to the coast. We're glad we did it while we live so close the ocean and all the attraction that SoCal has to offer. We think the Foster family should definitely do another reunion in San Diego. Great Town.

After a long hiatus, I come back to you now at the turning of the tide. The turning of what tide, you ask? The tide of of life, love and everything that this blog stands for.
Oh, and I also wanted to show you these cute pictures of my Sonny Boy. The photo above is me and my son at the U of A - BYU game. Ugly game, but Cal was showing his cougar pride and I was instilling in him his sure to be life-long love of college football.

School's out forever (almost)!

Today were the last real classes of my academic career. I still have tests next week, but the lectures are over. I'm not really that happy about it. I've been a student for so long that I'm not quite sure how to be anything else. I know how to "do" school. Give me your class syllabus, lecture me, give me your stinkin' test and stand back! I hope I can handle on-the-job training!
